National University is one of the largest state ran Public University which was established by a Act of Bangladesh Parliament as an affiliate institution for giving the graduate and post graduate level education to the students those who are failed to get admission (bachelor's, honours) into top public universities. According to admission (Honors/Bachelor Degree, Degree (pass) and Masters along with other professional courses like LLB, Journalism, ICT ) it is second large university in the world. The University also provides M. Phil and PhD degree via an independent institution under that.
It provides the curricula and arranges admission test, gives guidelines
for admission, holds examination, publishes results, and awards
certificates.
The educational or academic programs are divided into four departments or units, such as: School of Under Graduate Studies, Centre for Post-Graduate Studies Training & Research, M. Phil./Ph.D.Programme Unit, Centre for Curriculum Development and Evaluation. Under this 4 unit it organize all the affiliated college and give the tuition to its students where there are bachelor's, honours and master's degrees in 10 disciplines like Languages, Humanities, Social Science, Commerce and Business Administration, Physical Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Biological Science, Education, Law and Computer Technology.
Graduation level students are the largest regular registered student where the university provide the vision education like pass and professional courses. The academic department divided in various faculties and providing under mentioned bachelor's, honours and professional courses.

where more than 2097184 students are getting their education. Out of
them 1755256 are taking undergraduate, 334653 are taking postgraduate
